New obsession

One of my favorite things is finding new music. It doesn't necessarily have to be new in terms of the release date, just new to me. My latest and greatest:
The Gabe Dixon Band...

I love them. I'm pretty sure I have heard some of their stuff in the past and I know they have been around for a while, but I became obsessed with the song "Find My Way" because it was in the movie The Proposal (another favorite thing). Their music is heavily piano based, which I just love; sort of Elton John-esque. If you haven't heard them, look them up; their self-titled album is only $6.99 on iTunes and is well worth it!

Cigar bar romance

Having trouble finding men? Even Yahoo thinks I need help... Apparently this article that was on my Yahoo news this morning has all the answers. I'm not sure if this is legit advice, but it made me laugh so I just had to share the link for the girls: The Top Ten Places to Find Men

Sweet Caroline

I have been a little concerned that Glee had peaked too soon in the season and was on the downhill slump... but they redeemed themselves this week. I admit, I have a little crush on Mr. Mohawk, Noah, or Puck, or whatever his name is, and he won me over this week with this little diddy...

Who doesn't love a Neil Diamond cover? :)

Who needs eyebrows anyway?

Funny story courtesy of a teacher friend...

"I was out with a sub today and just received a text from a parent wondering why her child came home today minus eyebrows..."

If you can't laugh at that, there is something wrong. Kids are SO funny. I used to write down goofy things my kids would do/say while I was student teaching and I miss those silly moments so much. My little girlies in class used to get real worried if I had a hair on my head out of place... they would be sure to call me out on it, "Miss Steel, your hair is a mess" Haha I am not kidding, they keep you humble :) Although I have to say, one of the top moments had to have been when one came back from getting a change of clothes from the nurse... it went a little something like this: she comes in, turns her back to me, grabs her little booty and says, "Miss Steel, the nurse gave me some BOOTY pants!" She was appalled. I laughed... out loud. :)

Man, I miss those babies. I'm pretty sure I am going to need a new bloggie category just so I can include these funnies and reminisce.

Great big decisions

Most people that know me are well aware of the fact that I am super indecisive... not this time. I am in the process of making a great big, life impacting decision and I am feeling good about my current lack of indecisiveness. I probably shouldn't tell all about it right now, but if you are one of the 3 people that read this bloggie, you most likely know me well enough to know what I am talking about- if not, I will spill it all eventually :) It is just nice to be at this place in life where I honestly feel that these big decisions I am making are the right choices for me. Hello assertiveness, goodbye indecisiveness!

Sassy

I must admit, I wasn't too keen on pencil skirts for me (love them on other people)... but I think I might embrace them a little more this year. I have black and gray but now I am obsessed with this little one from Anthropologie. Look how sassy the pleated back is. So Cute.

Well, too bad I am a poor graduate student who simply cannot afford a $78 skirt. Hoping I can find a copy that will suffice.

Reason #9731

Reason #9731 why I love Texas A&M: the Aggie Spirit. Allow me to explain...

Today, while driving down Valley Mills (busy, main Waco street) I got that weird feeling that the people in the car next to me were staring. You know that feeling? So eventually I look over and my suspicions were confirmed- they were definitely creeping on me. But here's where the story gets better... apparently they were driving behind me at one point and must have noticed my Former Students sticker, which got them super excited. They pull up next to me and when I turn to look, they are almost plastered to their windows giving me the Gig 'Em. It was cute.

Now, I realize it is things just like this that gives A&M fans the reputation of being "brainwashed" and other derogatory comments, but I don't care; it warms my heart. I just think the Spirit of Aggieland is so neat and unique- how many other schools have that type of camaraderie? I notice other A&M stickers in Waco more often that I thought I would and it puts a smile on my face every time.

Thanks and Gig 'Em! Whoop!

Honeycrisp heaven

It's a little bit sad that this is my second post about apples... Whatev, I don't care- it was a serious bargain!

Honeycrisps usually cost at least $2.99/lb. Yeah, it's expensive, but you just grin a bare it because honestly they are that good. Well, I have been hearing (what I thought could only be a rumor) that Sam's had them cheaper. So today I casually wandered into the apple section with fingers crossed and oh my goodness... 6 big Honeycrisps for $5.47!!! The last time I bought 3 it was almost $6.00. I was genuinely excited hahaha. Also, more good news: I just found out that they can be stored in the fridge for 3 to 4 months-- which means, I can stockpile and save them for when the season ends.

Is it a sign that your life is a little dull if you blog twice about apples? Hmm, hope not.

Life lessons

Lesson for the day:
{you have to love yourself before you love another.}
Sounds easy, right? For some of us, not so much. I'm trying- I am a work in progress. Today was interesting and I am realizing this simple life lesson has the potential to be so beneficial when I finally figure it out. Hoping and praying for that to happen soon.
Something to think about :)

Haven't Met You Yet

How is it that I did not discover this until now? I love, love Michael Buble and this song is precious. Also, as a bonus, this video is cute. Not to mention that this song kind of sums up my life haha.

And in other news... I don't really have a whole lot to share/update. Had my first Audiology test Friday and I am pretty sure it owned me. I just have to tell myself that I have to bring up that grade asap! Who knew starting school again would be so hard? This is still what I want to be doing but honestly... some days I just really wish I had my own class of sweet babies. I miss the kiddos so much. But good news, I might have a job soon as a tutor with little ones. I had an interview Wednesday with a program called Communities in Schools, where tutors work with At Risk kiddies. Fingers crossed it works out soon because a) love the kids and b) I am so broke and really love a pair of Madden boots I just found haha!

So, that is about all there is. Gosh, my life is SO interesting. Good thing not many people know about this little bloggie or I would feel really guilty for the inadequate posts. I know I've said it before, but I really am going to try to blog better this week. Other goals for the week include: actually successfully doing Weight Watchers, working out, and studying harrrd. I'll let you know how it goes. XOXO :)
