Easy reading

Dear girls,
If you are looking for some light winter break reading, I love these three!

This little series by Whitney Lyles is fun and easy to read. These are not deep reading, hidden meaning types of books, but she makes you laugh :)

The heroine is a Kindergarten teacher named Cate who, in the start of the series, has had more than her fair share of awful bridesmaid experiences. The 3 books progress from Cate's bridesmaid misery and a crappy boyfriend, to finding her "Mr. Right" who was actually her friend all along, then her own woes as she plans her perfect wedding while trying to avoid becoming Bridezilla, and on to babyland.

Now, these books may not be literary masterpieces, but they made it on to my bookshelf nonetheless. If you are looking for some girlie books to read (I usually have to switch to really lighthearted books after reading something like Nicholas Sparks or Jodi Picoult), then I suggest checking into these. As a single girl at the ripe old age of 23, I find these books to be very easy to relate to; I'm actually pretty sure I could be Cate.

Happy reading :)

Seriously

Okay, so this isn't exactly an update, but who cares?

I honestly don't know what I would do without my iPhone now. I have become completely and hopelessly dependent on the little guy. Point and case: I am addicted to my Midomi app- so much that I think I have actually blogged about it before. Before life with the iPhone, I would hear songs and have to remember bits and pieces of lyrics until I could get home to Google it (usually somewhat unsuccessfully) ... well those days are gone. I can be just about anywhere and hear a song and put Midomi to work. 9 times out of 10 it is perfect.

So why am I babbling about a silly phone application? Oh, glad you asked. Thanks to Midomi, I am now obsessed with Crosby Loggins.

More specifically, this song:

Love it a lot. I am a sucker for a guy with a guitar- yep, I am that cliché- girls that love guys that play guitar. Hey, at least I'm honest!

I have been a bad blogger.

I will blame it on the holidays.

I'll catch up eventually.

Healthcare shmealthcare

I wish I understood politics better.

With all this talk of healthcare reform and the new bill, etc., I wish I knew what everything meant.

I hate being in the dark because of my own lack of understanding.

New Year's Resolution #1: acquire knowledge. I want to know what is going on with the government, but more than that, I want to understand it.

That is all. :)

The great debate

Ok, so maybe it's not exactly a great debate, but I am super indecisive.

I got these little guys for my birthday:
Original Wayfarer®
But now I think I want these little ones instead:
New Wayfarer®
I promise I'm not crazy, there is a difference. The second ones are a teensy bit of a smaller frame and have a kind of softer look. Alsooo, they are $30 less.

I know, these life altering decisions are real tough to make. :)

Cute lil' ass

Shame on you for thinking I just had a potty mouth, I was talking about a little bitty donkey! Isn't it the cutest thing?!

For those of you not familiar with these furry friends, this is a miniature donkey. This particular little baby's parents were only about 33 inches tall. Oh my goodness, so cute. It has been said that mini donkeys are among the most affectionate and endearing of God's creatures. I mean come on, who could resist that?

I need one of these. It is on my bucket list: own a mini donkey. Possibly name it Barnaby, Barney for short. Or maybe just call him B. Or how about Lil' Ass? Any of those names would work. Well okay, maybe not Lil' Ass ha.

Google it, Yahoo it, Bing it, I don't care what search you use, just look these babies up. You will want one too.

Dear Santa

Yesterday at work we had our kiddos (PreK-2nd graders) write down what they wanted for Christmas. I have never laughed so hard. These are just a few of the best ones. Poor Santa really has his work cut out for him this year :)
  • {4 year old little boy} wants a mustache. I think this is probably the best one I have ever heard. Bless his heart, I told him he might have to wait a few years.
  • He also wants stairs.
  • And a second head so he can fight two people at once. Great.
  • And rubber ducky house shoes.
  • And he wants a fake dog so it can sleep with him because he doesn't like his real dog.
  • And a fake alligator, so it won't bite him or eat him. Duh.
  • And a fake sun so he cannot be cold. Fake is a big thing with him.
  • {6 year old little girl} wants treasure. More specifically, a treasure box with real gold so she can be a lot rich (her words, not mine).
  • But she also needs socks.
  • And she wants an iPhone. Yeah, did I mention she's 6? Goodness.
  • {7 year old little girl} wants pajamas and house shoes, but only if they match and come together.
  • This one is sweet- she wants a really pretty necklace so she can give it to her mom.
  • She also needs to meet Hannah Montana at a concert. And yes, it was a need, not a want.
Needless to say, we were not running short on imagination yesterday. I love those babies.

Spelling bee losers

Pet peeve: people that misspell common words on Facebook. If you're not sure, look it up. I don't mean to be rude, but come on.

Today's spelling lesson: the word "ridiculous".

People, it's with an i not an e; there is no e in ridiculous. The word is not rediculous. If you don't want to take the time to look it up, at least install a browser that spell checks for you. If you type rediculous it's gonna' come up red. It's wrong.

Thanks & Gig 'Em :)

Quirky quirks

I am 99% sure that everyone has at least one little quirk, whether admit it or not. I will be the first to say that I have quite a few. What are they, you ask? Well...

For starters, I never buy full-sized tubes of toothpaste. Never. Not exactly sure why, but I only like the travel sizes. The big tubes have more of a tendency to get gross, not the little guys! I am sure in the long run it probably costs me more but oh well.

Numero dos is less of a quirk and more of a really weird phobia. Every time I go in the grocery store I am seriously worried that I will slip and fall, feet going up and head coming down with a crack on the nasty floor. It's weird, I know. I am so worried sometimes, in fact, that I will actually change my shoes before I go if they are slick bottom shoes. I also tend to hold on to the cart kind of tight. Yep, you can say it, I know it's odd.

Three: loose, wiggly teeth. Siiiick nasty. I can handle a lot when it comes to kiddos; I have been peed on (more than once), changed diapers, cleaned up runny noses, throw up, you name it- but show me a kid with a tooth hanging on by a thread, forget about it. My first graders last year knew this about me, which was not good. First graders can be mean. They would come to me telling me it was "very important" then proceed to wiggle that nasty little loose thing. It got to the point where if I knew it was coming, I would simply put my hand up to cover their little mouth and give them the pass to head down to the art room where our lovely art teacher would pull the little sucker for them. Hope my husband doesn't mind loose teeth, Lord knows I'm not touching them.

Okay, so that's only three, but there are more. If you're lucky, this post might just have a sequel. I know I have you on the edge of your seat now. Suspense is killer :)
