Bumfuzzle

If you have seen the movie, Love Happens, you know that Jennifer Aniston's character, Eloise, is a bit of a graffiti artist. Okay, so not really graffiti... she chooses strange and often uncommon words to write on walls and hide behind pictures and paintings, etc. It got me thinking- if I picked a word or two every once in a while and blogged about them, it would most likely increase my vocabulary (and maybe the vocabularies of the two people that read this little bloggie of mine haha).

So, here we go:

Bumfuzzle [buhm-fuhz-uhl]- Verb (used with object); bumfuzzled, bumfuzzling; Mainly used in South Midland and Southern U.S.

To confuse or fluster.

There ya go. If you learned nothing else today, at least you've got a new vocab word. :)

I think I prefer woolves now

New Moon Thoughts:
$72.7 million in one night? Good gracious.

Thank you, Chris Weitz. Pretty sure you were better than Catherine Hardwicke.

So glad entire movie was not tinted blue- good work, crew.

Kristen Stewart was gorgeous throughout. Now, just get rid of that damn mullet in real life. You are a pretty girl. Mullets are not pretty, cut it out.

Alice Cullen/Ashley Greene is precious.

Could have lived without the sometimes cheesy computer generated Edwards. Just sayin'.

Jessica Stanley is a funny little character :)

Hey casting director, nice work with Victoria. I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't already known.

The Volturi were sufficiently creepy- especially you, Dakota Fanning.

Omg Taylor Lautner. Is it okay to lust after a 17 year old? No, I do not think so. Can I help it? No, I do not think so. Geez, those muscles.

Dear R.Pats, I still love you too.

It is now much harder for me to "pick a team". I was an Edward while reading the books but my gosh, when you see Taylor Lautner it's hard not to go with Team Jacob. Haha I am so lame.

Of the 4, New Moon is probably my least favorite... however, I loved the movie, so good job! Looking forward to the next 2, or 3??

Good music? Check!

Will I see this over and over again, like most movies? Yep. :)

Nevermind IMDB's 4.5 stars, I give it a 10.

Did I mention I really like Taylor Lautner? And I'm pretending that he was not born in 1992.

These twists and turns of fate

So not only do I love this song, Little Wonders, by Rob Thomas, but the quote they use at the end of this movie (Meet the Robinsons) is also one of my favorites :)

Study break

This post is completely out of necessity- if I don't have a study break, I'm pretty sure I will have a mental break. I am so overwhelmed. It's nice to be able to send all of this out into that cyberspace void; to voice my stresses and worries and get them out. It's like blog therapy.

So I have a test Friday and I am frazzled. I hate the class. Yeah, I know, it was probably not two weeks ago that I blogged about how great my classes were and all my profs, and la-ti-da... well, that's over. I just can't get a grip on this class. In 4 years of undergrad I don't think I ever really had a class that was this upsetting to me- I feel like I am learning nothing, which is very disheartening as a graduate student. The quizzes that were supposed to be preparation for the test have all been tricky and I only did ok on them because we had two attempts, not because I know the info. I sit in class and really try to listen but it is like a foreign language. Yeesh.

You know that feeling where you don't want to cry but you can feel the water coming up in your eyes- you have to will it back down... I have been fighting that feeling all night. I don't have time for a break down right now. I have class at 8, an interview for a job that I really could use at 10:30, then class at 12:30 which is going to include a quiz that I am completely unprepared for right now, then my Audiology test at 9 Friday morning. I do not have time for a break down. Maybe if I keep saying that it will hold off until Friday afternoon. If it could just wait until then, I would be ready for a good cry. I am a firm believer in the therapy of crying, sometimes you just need it.

If you have now read all the way to this point, please allow me to apologize. No one should have to read silly things like this. I just use this blog sometimes as a sounding board to get my thoughts out of my head. If you have read this far, I will reward you with one of my new finds that I am a little obsessed with...

Super excited about the movie version of the book Where the Wild Things Are! I love all the previews, but even more, I think the music is going to be amazing. This song is by Karen O and The Kids and is called, All is Love. Favorite line: L-O-V-E, it's a mystery. Sooo good!

Patrick Swayze

Today is a two-post day.

My heart is sad and aches for Patrick Swayze's family. His talent was unmistakable and unmatched. I think I could watch Dirty Dancing about 10 times in a row right now. It's impossible to pick just one favorite Patrick Swayze scene, but I love these from Dirty Dancing and Ghost. I'm sure he is dancing with angels now :)

The Blind Side

I don't think that I have ever almost cried during a preview, but this one almost did it for me. It comes out November 20, which is the same day as New Moon, eek! Watch the preview, you will want to see it to.

Oh, and if you're like me, you like to read the books that movies are based on... good news, this one is a book. It is by Michael Lewis and is called, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game.

I jumped on the bandwagon

I have to admit that when the Twilight craze was all happening, I was one of those people saying "I just don't get it. It can't be that good. Vampires?" Well, I held out for about 4 years but... I gave in.

A few weeks ago my sister brought home the Twilight movie and I watched, even though I was somewhat reluctant at first. Two hours later, I was starting to get hooked. I remembered my cousin, Sara, and I having a conversation a few weeks earlier about the whole Twilight obsession. She was telling me how she had read the books before seeing the movie, and she thought the movie was okay but told me the books were much better written than the movie led you to believe. Soo with that idea in my head I decided I would give the dang book a chance. It's summer. What else did I have to do? I needed a book to read anyway...

I read the first book in a few days and I loved it. Since I bought the book 4 years late it was in paperback, which means it wasn't the first version of the book and because it was older and had been printed after the second book came out there was a preview of New Moon at the end. This is where they got me. They get you to like to first book, and yea, I probably would have eventually got around to reading the next one, but when they put that little one chapter preview in the back it turned into something I had to read, and I had to read it right then. I finished Twilight while Mom and Dad were on a run to Wal*Mart so I called them while they were there and asked them to grab New Moon for me. I read it in a day. Stayed up until 2am reading. I was hooked. New Moon had the same type of preview for Eclipse, so the cycle repeated itself. Because Eclipse was a newer than the other two, it's only available in hardcover. As much as I hated to spend $15 on a book, I didn't really care because I was already in because of the preview (man, that is a good marketing technique)! I was anxious to read Eclipse because Sara had mentioned that it was her favorite of the series. I was not disappointed... except for the fact that the end of Eclipse had no preview of Breaking Dawn. So what did I do??

Well, I'm not one of those people who hates when surprieses are ruined, in fact, I usually ruin them for myself. I had no preview of the next book and no idea how the whole series would end so I did what any Twilight addict who is a surprise ruiner would do... I Wikipedia'ed it. Yep. Read the whole plot summary in a matter of minutes. I know there are probably people out there gasping at the sound of this, sorry. Normally I am not the person who reads the back of the book first, in fact, I can't really think of a time that I have ever done that. But once the cycle had started with these books, I had to know what was going to happen. I mean, let's be honest, Breaking Dawn is a whopping 754 pages- the suspense would have killed me. But if it makes the ruined surprise any better, I didn't just take the Wikipedia version for what it was worth, of course I read Breaking Dawn, and big shocker... I loved it too!

So long story short, I am now on the Twilight bandwagon. I didn't get the whole obsession at first- the fact that girls all over were in love with a fictional character, let alone the fact that he was a vampire, completely baffled me... but, I actually kind of get it. Hold on, I'm not saying I am in love with Edward Cullen, but I am saying that Stephanie Meyer did a great job creating her characters and now I understand how people get hooked on these books. I did. If you haven't read them because you think the whole vampire thing is just a little far fetched, if you are just like I was, not wanting to join the crowd, get over it. The books are good. And even though I don't quite think the Twilight movie matched up 100% to the quality of the book, I can hardly wait for New Moon in November! If not the books, At least watch the movies, just to look at Robert Pattinson, if for no other reason! :)
